New Feature: Google Pay Business & Paytm Business Account Support
Stream Alert now fully supports Business UPI accounts. Accept donations with higher transaction limits, better privacy, and zero risk of bank account freezes — the biggest concern for Indian streamers.
TL;DR
- Stream Alert now supports Google Pay Business and Paytm Business account notifications.
- Business accounts offer higher transaction limits, privacy protection (donors see your business name, not personal name), and bank freeze protection.
- Switching takes 2 minutes in the Stream Alert settings.
- All existing features (TTS, custom alerts, OBS integration) work identically with Business accounts.

What Changed
Until now, Stream Alert was optimized for personal UPI payment notifications from Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm. These personal notifications have a specific format that Stream Alert parses to extract the donor name, amount, and message.
Business UPI accounts use a different notification format. Google Pay Business and Paytm Business send payment notifications with different text patterns, different metadata, and sometimes different notification channels. This meant that streamers who had already upgraded to Business accounts were seeing missed or incorrectly parsed donations.
With this update, Stream Alert now:
- Parses Google Pay Business notifications accurately, extracting the payer's name, amount, and transaction details.
- Parses Paytm Business (Paytm for Business) notifications including QR payments, UPI payments, and Paytm Wallet payments.
- Handles PhonePe Business notifications for merchants registered on the PhonePe Business platform.
- Auto-detects account type. Stream Alert automatically identifies whether a notification is from a personal or business account and applies the correct parsing logic.
If you're already using a Business account, simply update Stream Alert to the latest version and notifications will be parsed correctly. No configuration change needed — auto-detection handles it.
Why Business Accounts Matter for Streamers
If you're an Indian streamer receiving regular UPI donations, switching to a Business account isn't just a nice-to-have — it's becoming a necessity. Here's why:
The Bank Freeze Problem
This is the single biggest concern for Indian streamers who accept UPI donations. When a personal bank account receives many small UPI transactions from different senders, banks and cyber cells can flag the account for suspicious activity. This has happened to real Indian streamers:
- Account suddenly frozen with no warning
- Unable to access funds for days or weeks
- Required to visit the bank and explain the source of funds
- Some cases escalated to cyber cell investigations
Business accounts are designed to receive many transactions from many different people. Banks and payment processors expect this pattern for business accounts, so there's no risk of a freeze.
Higher Transaction Limits
Personal UPI accounts have transaction limits that can restrict how much a single viewer can donate. Business accounts typically have higher per-transaction and daily limits, meaning your biggest supporters won't be blocked by payment caps.
Privacy Protection
When someone pays a personal UPI ID, they can see your full legal name and sometimes partial bank details. With a Business account, donors see your business name instead. This is important for streamers who want to keep their real name private for safety and personal reasons.

How to Switch to Business Account in Stream Alert
If you've already set up a Google Pay Business or Paytm Business account, here's how to configure Stream Alert:
Step 1: Update Stream Alert
Make sure you're running the latest version of Stream Alert. Open the Google Play Store, search for Stream Alert, and tap Update if available.
Step 2: Open Stream Alert Settings
In the Stream Alert app, go to Settings → UPI Configuration.
Step 3: Select Your Account Type
You'll see an option to select your UPI account type. Choose "Business Account" and then select your UPI app (Google Pay Business or Paytm Business).
Step 4: Verify Detection
Send a small test payment (₹1) to your Business UPI ID from another phone or have a friend send it. Verify that Stream Alert detects the notification and displays the correct donor name and amount.
Step 5: Update Your Stream
If your Business UPI ID is different from your personal one, update the QR code and UPI ID displayed on your stream. Make sure viewers know to send payments to your new Business UPI address.
Auto-Detection Note
In most cases, Stream Alert auto-detects whether a notification is from a personal or business account. You may not even need to change the account type setting — just updating to the latest version should be enough. The manual configuration is available as a fallback if auto-detection doesn't work for your specific setup.

Our Recommendation
If you receive more than 10 donations per stream on average, switch to a Business UPI account. The bank freeze protection alone is worth it. Google Pay Business and Paytm Business are both free to set up, and the registration process takes about 5–10 minutes. Read our complete Business account setup guide for step-by-step instructions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to change my alert URL after switching to a Business account?
No. Your Stream Alert browser source URL stays the same. The change in account type only affects how Stream Alert parses the incoming payment notifications on your phone. Your OBS setup remains untouched.
Will my existing alert customizations be lost?
No. All your alert designs, TTS settings, sound effects, and configurations are preserved. The Business account update only changes the notification parsing layer — everything else stays exactly the same.
Does Google Pay Business charge a fee on transactions?
Google Pay Business does not charge fees on UPI payments received. Some Business account providers may charge fees on certain transaction types (like card payments), but standard UPI-to-UPI transfers are free. Check your specific provider's terms for details.
Can I use both personal and Business UPI IDs simultaneously?
Yes. If you receive notifications from both personal and Business accounts on the same phone, Stream Alert's auto-detection will handle both. You can share your Business UPI ID for donations while still using your personal account for everyday payments.
I'm already on a Business account but alerts weren't working. Is this fixed?
Yes. If you were on a Business account and experiencing missed or incorrectly parsed alerts, updating to the latest version of Stream Alert should fix the issue. The new notification parsing engine handles all Business account notification formats. If you still have issues after updating, reach out to [email protected].
Do I need GST registration for a Business account?
Not necessarily. Google Pay Business allows registration without GST for small businesses and individual entrepreneurs. Paytm Business also has options for non-GST registered businesses. However, if your annual streaming income exceeds the GST threshold (currently ₹20 lakh for services), you should consult a CA about registration requirements.
